Benahavis was established in the late 11th century when the Arabs constructed a fortress to secure the eastern side of the Montemayor castle.
The village's name, Benahavis, is derived from "Son of Havis" (Ben al Havis), chosen for its strategically advantageous height.
Nestled in the mountains, Benahavis is located just 7 kilometers from the coastline.
Often referred to as the "dining room of the Costa del Sol," this charming village is known for its stunning vistas of both mountains and the sea. It is home to 12 of the 70 golf courses in the Costa del Sol region.
In addition, Benahavis is surrounded by pristine nature, offering ample opportunities for hiking or biking amidst diverse flora and fauna while soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
Inside the village at this moment it is only one hotel but people are renting out apartments for Your holiday. Please contact me for more information if you plan to visit our village and want to stay over.
The village has food shops, a pharmacy, a post office, a church, restaurants and bars. No worries that you will not survive without a car.
